Course Description:

Embark on a musical adventure and learn to play Beethoven with both hands in just 4 weeks! Our exclusive course is designed to introduce students to the joys of playing two-handed piano in a fun and innovative way. While prior experience with our I Can Read Music Foundation Course is recommended, It’s not required. Throughout the course, students will explore piano sheet music, master the right-hand Treble Clef, learn left-hand chord formations, and experience the thrill of playing Beethoven with two hands. Get ready to power up with Panda Paws and conquer Beethoven’s classics!

Course Outline:

Week One   I Can Play Beethoven Right Hand
Finger mastery, keyboard basics, and rhythmic foundations
 Solfege with Ode to Joy and Treble Clef introduction

Week Two I Can Play Left Hand C Chords
Mastering Beethoven’s right hand melody
Embracing Bass Clef and C Chord exploration.

Week Three C Chords and More! Let’s Learn G Chord
Speed drills, G Chord mastery, and left-hand transitions

Week Four Show Time  I Can Play Beethoven Two Hands
Solo showcases for both hands
Two-hand challenge and course celebration!

Dr. Matthew Yip

Dr. Matthew Yip is a distinguished mathematician with a wealth of academic achievements. He graduated from both Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Princeton University, earning double Ph.D. degrees and double master’s degrees in Mathematics and Mathematics Education. His academic prowess is reflected in his excellent grades at MIT, where he garnered significant recognition.

As the Founder of the Global Mathematics and Mathematics Olympiad Graded Assessment Test with Competition, Dr. Yip has made significant contributions to the field. He is also a columnist and best-selling author, with his sincere and high-quality books reaching readers from over 40 countries or regions.

With a teaching career spanning across various educational levels, Dr. Yip has taught more than 100 master’s, bachelor, and associate degree courses. Additionally, he has shared his expertise with dozens of primary and secondary schools.

Dr. Yip’s extensive experience and expertise make him an invaluable addition to our Advisory Board. With his guidance, we aim to enhance the Musicology Lab’s mathematics curriculum, ensuring excellence and innovation in mathematical education.

Dr. Emily Good-Perkins, Ed.D.

Emily Good-Perkins, Owner and Director of The Music Playhouse, is dedicated to delivering exceptional music education to diverse learners. With a focus on inclusivity, she shapes the school’s curriculum and philosophy based on extensive research and global teaching experience.

Emily holds an EdD and an MEd in Music Education from Columbia University. Her work at Columbia has contributed significantly to the field, particularly through her research and publications on culturally sustaining pedagogies in music education. She also serves as a dissertation supervisor for Boston University Music Education Doctoral students online, providing mentorship to aspiring educators and researchers.

Emily’s commitment to advancing music education and fostering diversity aligns seamlessly with our mission. We are privileged to have her expertise on our Advisory Board as we shape the future of music education.

Dr Javeria Khadija Shah, SFHEA

Dr. Javeria Khadija Shah brings a wealth of expertise to our Advisory Board as a global award-winning CEO and distinguished educator. With interdisciplinary specializations in policy, sociology, and creative arts education, Dr. Shah’s extensive experience as an academic and senior manager uniquely positions her at the forefront of inclusive pedagogy.

Currently serving as Associate Director of the Centre for Inclusive Pedagogy and Practice and a member of the Principal’s Office at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London, Dr. Shah is deeply committed to fostering inclusive learning environments.

Moreover, Dr. Shah offers invaluable inclusion training as a consultancy service, having guided over 30 multi-sector UK clients since 2019 in their endeavors towards anti-racism and embedding inclusion.
